I avoided excessive details and chose to focus on her natural features, presenting a simple yet profound image. I opted for clean lines and delicate shading to highlight the balance between fragility and strength. Working on a made-to-order basis allows Cakeaholic to give full attention to every detail. This small-batch approach ensures that every dessert is not only fresh but thoughtfully crafted to match the occasion and the person it’s made for. The process started with a photographic portrait, which was simplified into three distinct colors to define the main areas of contrast. These areas were then carefully refined to improve clarity and expression, ensuring that the reduced image still captured the personality of the subject. After final adjustments, the image was vectorized, scaled to the required size, and organized into separate layers. This file served as the basis for the cutting process, where the shapes were precisely transferred onto Konto panels using a high-pressure water jet.
The black and grey pieces are painted separately, then fitted together like a puzzle to form the base layer. Because of the detailed interlocking cuts, assembly requires precision to avoid damage. Once the base is complete, the white layer is added using a custom template. After gluing, any excess adhesive is cleaned once fully dry.
