Pure Water is inspired by the reflection of sea waves surrounding Pellinge Marina. Water is an essential element in the core concept of the hotel, which operates amidst the archipelago, and I aimed to capture it in my work that anchors the perspective from the dining table in the living room of Villa Berg. I brought the tranquility of the silver waters outside into the visual ensemble of the interior space, complementing it with the presence of natural rocks that form a significant part of the walls. My main artistic approach was contrast: light against dark, soft against hard, vertical against horizontal.
We want to thank you, Virgil, for the stunning Pure Water piece that now graces the spaces of Villa Berg. The artwork is exactly what we had hoped for – its harmony and elegance blend perfectly with the atmosphere of the villa. It’s a joy to see how beautifully you brought our vision to life.

Pellinge Marina is a quiet retreat on the island of Suur-Pellinki in the Porvoo archipelago, just off Finland’s southern coast. Once a traditional fishing farm, it has been thoughtfully rebuilt into a modern, low-profile resort that blends into its natural surroundings without losing the island’s original character.
The resort’s architecture is simple and clean, designed to follow the shape of the rocky shoreline. Villas and suites open toward the sea, offering wide views and a sense of space. A wood-fired beach sauna and nearby forest trails add to the calm, allowing visitors to disconnect without going far.
Easily reached by a short ferry from the mainland, Pellinge Marina offers a mix of comfort and quiet. Guests can explore the island on electric bikes, walk the coastal paths, or just take time to pause and enjoy the rhythm of island life.
The first sketches were made by observing gently rippling water under the light of the setting sun. I traced the outlines of the lightest areas and isolated them. By connecting these shapes with flowing, curved lines, I aimed to create a continuous, fluid pattern. Colored in white, it forms a strong contrast against the black background, enhancing the effect of the light. The vectorized and scaled drawings became the working file for cutting the panels with a water jet.
The cut pieces were sorted by color category, then individually painted and assembled into separate sections. In this case, I created three complete sections with seamless joints to make transport and final installation easier.
The final installation was done by mounting the artwork directly onto the wall. After a floor-level mock-up for guidance, I marked the placement and installed each of the three sections from bottom to top. The position was aligned with the axis of the 10-person table in front and matched in height with the windows on the adjacent wall.
