MOOSE HEADS

DESIGNER's insight

I created two minimalist and refined artworks using Konto, a material that has a clean, textured finish. Each piece is made from two layers - one forming the background and the other used for the silhouette of the moose. The design features two moose heads, each with a unique expression, but both capturing the same minimalist approach.

Richard, a passionate hunter, commissioned these works for his two hunting cabins, which are located in different parts of the Finnish forests. While designing the pieces, I wanted to create something that would resonate with the quiet power and natural beauty of the landscape, while still reflecting Richard’s personal connection to hunting.

The initial inspiration came from a few minimalist moose designs I stumbled upon online. I’m grateful to those artists for their influence. However, my intention was to adapt those ideas into something that felt personal to Richard and his wife. I carefully tailored the works to match their tastes, incorporating their preferences and feedback along the way.

The Silent Majesty of the Moose

The moose are the crown of the Finnish forests, standing as symbols of quiet strength and raw beauty. Their presence alone commands admiration, embodying the power and timeless majesty of the wilderness. There is a hypnotic quality to them, an aura of stillness and serenity that draws you in. Their massive forms, unwavering in the forest’s shadows, carry the very essence of the land — a deep connection to nature’s unspoken force. With their graceful stature and imposing silhouette, they inspire awe, evoking a sense of something ancient, untouchable, and sacred. The moose are more than just animals; they are living icons of nature’s grandeur, reflecting the profound spirit of the Finnish landscape. Their quiet dominance in the forest leaves an imprint on the soul, reminding us of the raw, untouched beauty that still exists in the world.

The process - from vision to detail

  • CONCEPT AND VISUALIZATION

The two images, treated separately but within the same graphic language, were reduced to a single color, then stylized and balanced against a monochromatic background. Their identical dimensions required the drawings to be developed in parallel, ensuring a cohesive and unified final result.
