The series includes three works that illustrate the annual cycle of wine production at the HB Wine vineyard. The first composition refers to the land prepared in the spring, under the gentle sun of the days that begin to warm up. The profile of the hills, suggested by parallel cuts, mimics the real profile of the vineyard and the rolling geometry of the land. The future harvest appears in the form of a grape cluster, abstracted and placed somewhere in the otherworldly zone. The second composition, through the simplified logo of the vineyard, represents the entire enterprise that stands at the heart of the whole cycle. Finally, the third work consists of a background with an abundant harvest, the bottling of “red” and “white” wines— the two main brands of the company— and the final distribution suggested through a glass. This series is displayed at the wine tasting center at the entrance to the vineyard.
HB Wine, located in the historic Miniș-Măderat wine region of Romania, is a young yet distinguished winery founded by Horia Ban, an engineer and entrepreneur from Bihor. After discovering his passion for wine in 2008, Horia invested in the region’s viticultural heritage in 2022, acquiring 3.5 hectares of 47-year-old vineyards on a hilltop in Covăsînț. In just three months, he built a modern winery with advanced technology, including geothermal heat pumps and automated temperature control systems, ensuring optimal winemaking conditions.
Horia, alongside oenologist Clara Kardos, revived the area’s winemaking tradition, producing wines that capture the essence of the local terroir. HB Wine’s wines are known for their intensity, deep color, and distinct mineral character, thanks to the noble “Rupes Nobilis” rock layer beneath the soil. The winery’s commitment to quality has earned it international acclaim, with several prestigious awards, including four gold medals at the 2025 “Vinarium” international competition and multiple medals at the 2024 “Mundus Vini” and “Vinul.ro” contests.
HB Wine embodies a fusion of passion, tradition, and innovation, with Horia Ban viewing wine as a reflection of culture, land, and the people who craft it. Each bottle from HB Wine fosters connections and celebrates the simplicity and joy of sharing, while promoting Romanian wines on the international stage.
This project followed immediately after "LOGO," a larger-scale work that was displayed on the facade of the wine processing hall. The series of three, through its concept, posed graphic design challenges - how to achieve clear images with just a few cutouts and adapt the original, detail-heavy logo into a miniature version that remains easily recognizable. In essence, it involved a redesign of the original logo, which itself had already been reworked from the printed version.
The simple layout of the two layers - the white top one and the burgundy background - made the marking, painting, and assembly process pretty quick and straightforward. A stencil was used to place the top layer and the letters exactly where they needed to be.
Pellinge Marina is a quiet retreat on the island of Suur-Pellinki in the Porvoo archipelago, just off Finland’s southern coast. Once a traditional fishing farm, it has been thoughtfully rebuilt into a modern, low-profile resort that blends into its natural surroundings without losing the island’s original character.
The resort’s architecture is simple and clean, designed to follow the shape of the rocky shoreline. Villas and suites open toward the sea, offering wide views and a sense of space. A wood-fired beach sauna and nearby forest trails add to the calm, allowing visitors to disconnect without going far.
Easily reached by a short ferry from the mainland, Pellinge Marina offers a mix of comfort and quiet. Guests can explore the island on electric bikes, walk the coastal paths, or just take time to pause and enjoy the rhythm of island life.
