This three-part series is based on visual patterns generated by water reflections – fluid, irregular contours captured and transformed into layered compositions. The initial forms were observed, simplified, and redrawn to highlight the contrast between dynamic motion and still structure.
When positioned in their intended order, the panels create a continuous flow, evoking the shifting rhythm of light and water. The light-toned surface elements appear to float above a darker background, creating depth and visual layering. While the triptych forms a cohesive whole, each panel is also designed to work independently, retaining balance and internal structure.
The default size of 450 mm per panel can be customized to fit various interior or display contexts. The series explores how fleeting natural impressions – like light rippling across a surface – can be captured, abstracted, and embedded into a fixed spatial format without losing their original energy.

The process began with selecting photographic references of water surfaces where reflections created distinct, high-contrast shapes. I looked for compositions where light distortions could be abstracted without losing their fluid quality or connection to the source.
These forms were then vectorized and simplified, with careful adjustments to proportions and curvature. Horizontal guides were added to help structure the flow and prepare the layout for segmentation. The result was a clean, layered composition that still retained a sense of movement.
I divided the final drawing into three vertical panels, each one capable of standing on its own, but designed to function as part of a unified visual sequence. The series captures the rhythm of reflected light and translates it into a format suitable for precise fabrication and spatial integration.
With the concept finalized, a detailed vector drawing was developed to maintain consistent flow and alignment throughout the composition. The design was then separated into layers to define depth and structure, followed by a 3D simulation to test proportions and spatial logic.
After confirming the layout, the elements were grouped by material type to match the production workflow. The final files were prepared accordingly and sent for precise waterjet cutting, ready for fabrication.
After painting, the white pieces were placed onto the background panel using positioning stencils. This ensured accurate alignment and consistent spacing across the entire composition.
